EASTER HOLIDAY - TEAM AT AFUÁ
It was three days and three nights sailing, eating, sleeping, praying, evangelizing and holding meetings.
The women slept in the Prebyterian Church at Afuá. Pr. Martinho and Mrs Marina were the hosts.
But until we reached the place to where we were headed we faced many battles.
On the Thursday when the boat was broken, God prepared an "angel", Mr. Antônio -(a mechanic who delivered us from the "nail", as they say in the region).
On the Friday we sailed at 5 a.m. Around 7 o'clock the boat was "nailed" again, but by then the pilot knew how to fix the problem. We proceeded on our trip and God directed us to the first community. We went to a house where there were four men. We had an opportunity to speak about the "MEANING OF THE CROSS".
We arrived at Afuá at 12:30 and went directly to the house of Pr. Martinho. We met with him and some other local leaders who were waiting for us.
After this we went to Rio do Prata (Silver River).
On Saturday morning we went to pray where the future EMAF base will be situated.
We shared some time in God's Word, went to visit the other side of the river and then continued our journey - this time to the Rio Muruquara.
The rain became intense.... Another fright! The steel cable of the helm broke!
Knowing that God was in control and that there were people praying for us, we were at peace. Everything taken care of, we arrived at another community. The head of the home was traveling, leaving his son and sister in law. We spoke of the love of God, prayed and had lunch with them; sharing the food was a "party": açaí (a local fruit) with shrimps for us, and chicken with rice for them.
During the morning I spoke at Sunday School at the Evangelical Christian Church and part of the team lead the Sunday School at the Baptist Church. Also during the morning I joined Pr. Edmilson of the Assemblies of God church. At night we went to the meeting at the Presbyterian Church.
The return trip was peaceful, without strong waves. While we waited for the tide to rise, we swam in the river and ran along the beach.
The boats will be used with more frequency. We need your prayers for the Lord's protection and for the resources for "extra" repairs that will arise.
Please pray, divulge and contribute for the progress of the work.
With gratitude, in the Love of Christ,
Custódio and family
