The Guará is a bird that is enchanting because of its red plumage. It is this colour so it can eat a species of crab that lives in the swamps.

The Delta do Parnaíba Region has the largest concentration of guarás in the whole of the Brazilian territory. The Flight of the Guarás is one of the most fantastic phenomena of the Delta and this spectacle can be appreciated every evening when the guarás return to their “dormitory” – a small island near the Community of Morro do Meio, that protects them from predators and other threats, while they sleep.
