STORY OF A FISHERMAN
My name is João Maria, I am 48 years old, and live on Ilha de Canárias, in the Delta do Parnaíba. Since early days I learned to be a fisherman. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
I go out at daybreak, many times, under rain, usually with two other fishermen, taking in the canoe our fishing nets, oars, snack and water. We spend the whole day fishing. Sometimes we catch fish, other times not. We have two types of nets, one with a large weave, the other smaller. When we cannot fish with one, we try with the other.

God has not given up on me. Fifteen years ago I knew Christ and gave myself to Him completely. God has been so patient and loving to me, because I did not want to know Jesus, and I hated it when a child of God came knocking on my door, speaking about Jesus. Today I live for Him and take part in the church on the island. What is more, I love to dedicate my life to the Lord’s work and see lives being saved for the Kingdom of God.
